Why I Review
Healthcare pricing is too opaque and complex. The great thing about cash pay medical care, which includes cash pay surgeries like LASIK, is its transparency and lack of complexity. Many facilities publicly advertise easy to understand, all inclusive pricing. I believe all healthcare pricing should work the same way.
TreatCost exists to empower patients by providing clear, unbiased information about medical treatments, costs, and provider quality. Through thorough research and analysis, I aim to bring pricing and quality transparency to more parts of healthcare.
How TreatCost Conducts Reviews
All TreatCost reviews follow the same general process, which is designed to be as fair and objective as possible.
- Review Aggregation Reviews are collected from many patients to ensure a comprehensive view of each provider's handling of patients who have either successful or unsuccessful surgeries.
- Analysis: Reviews are analyzed to identify common themes, both positive and negative, with particular attention to patient experiences. These analyses are used to provide "color" to our analysis, but aren't supposed to affect a provider's TreatScore.
- TreatScore Ratings: Each component of the TreatScore is scored on a scale from 0 to 5.
- Pricing Research: I verify pricing information from websites, emails, and phone calls.
- Regular Updates: Information is updated monthly, which seems to be roughly the cadence at which providers change their prices. This ensures patients have access to timely information.
Our goal is to present information in a clear, accessible way that helps you make the best decision for your healthcare needs.
