Provider Price Match
Bringing lower prices to price-conscious customers without compromising pricing
Price Matching lets you give price-conscious customers lower pricing without having separate pricing on your website & on TreatCost.com
Why Do We Need a Contract?
Many existing providers make the mistake of allowing price matching but making it difficult to redeem. For example, they require a written quote from the 3rd party prior to redeeming the price match. The obvious problems with this approach:
- If the other clinic provides the patient with a good experience then the patient will never bother to go back to the original clinic, so that customer is lost
- If the other clinic provides the patient with a poor experience, then perhaps their services aren't equivalent to yours and you shouldn't be price matching that clinic in the first place
- The negative experience of going back and forth between different clinics is time consuming and not a good start to a patient relationship
The benefit to this approach is reducing mistakes and fraud. An example of a mistake is a promotional deal at a competing business which only applies to patients who have myopia when the patient in question does not have myopia.
Implementing Price Matching
When signed, the TreatCost.com price matching contract provides patients with the benefits of price matching while also reducing provider's risk of patient mistakes and fraud. TreatCost.com only allows price matching with prices listed on TreatCost.com and our prices are verified by our team. In the event that our Price Match provides the patient with an inaccurate price and this becomes a point of contention with the patient, TreatCost.com can be blamed for providing the patient with a bad experience. Without TreatCost.com the negative feelings and experiences lie solely with the provider.
Before & After Price Matching
Prior to signing a price matching contract, we do not consider price matching when showing prices on our website and so a $4000 price with price matching is listed below a $3900 price without price matching. After signing a contract, the $3900 price with price matching can be listed equally with the $3900 price without price matching. In practice, this means we automatically adjust the provider's price to the lowest price for that procedure type (ie PRK, Contoura/Wavefront LASIK, SMILE, etc.). When a patient clicks the "Schedule" button they are taken to an intermediate page where we collect their email address prior to sending them on to the provider. We then email the patient directly for instructions on how to redeem their price match. If we have a more complex agreement with the provider, this process may be streamlined.
